If you have a friend who is getting married, you may want to give them something really unique that they will cherish for years to come and will hopefully be something that they use on a regular basis. There are several things that you can give your friend or loved one. 

Handcrafted Dishes

One thing that you can do is to go to a potter or other artisan and get a set of handmade dinnerware pottery. You could get dishes made from wood, metal, or some kind of ceramic, or a mix thereof. The nice thing is that you can work with the artisan to design a set of dishes that are exactly what you want. That means they could be oddly shaped, unique colors, or a set of dishes where each dish looks different from the next, but are all related somehow. These dishes would be a set that no one but your friend or family member would have. if you have a friend who is arty or kitschy, this can be a really good choice for a gift. 

Linens

Everyone needs bed and table linens of some kind or another. If you like to sew, then you might want to consider making table linens, bed sheets, or even blankets. The nice thing is that you can dye the fabric so that it is a shade that your friend would really like, especially if it's a color that is hard to get. You could use all kinds of different dying techniques as well. Dying your own fabric is a lot easier than most people think, and if nothing else, you get to learn a new skill. Then you can make the linens or blankets. If you want to personalize them even more, you could sew a monogram or embroider some other kind of pattern on there as well. If you are going to make a blanket or quilt, you can quilt the blanket in a particular pattern that is special to just your friend or loved one and their potential spouse. For example, you might work their initials and wedding date into the quilt lines.
